Global Common is a renewable energy company focused on the development of biomass energy projects.  The Company was established in 2002, and has previously developed two wood fired power plants in California, and a kerosene-fired peaking plant in Greenport, Long Island, New York.  In addition to the pellet mills, the Company is developing an anaerobic digester facility in Cayuga County, New York.

The management team has extensive experience in the energy and environmental fields.  The principals have a proven record in new business start-up, expansion and management, development and acquisition of biomass energy projects, and in all aspects of energy project development and finance.


Robert J. Foxen, P.E. Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Foxen has over 25 years experience in the energy and environmental fields.  He founded Global Common in 2002, and has successfully developed two 12.5 MW biomass fired power plants in California, and a 54 MW peaking plant in Greenport, Long Island, New York.  Mr. Foxen  began development of the Greenport project in September 2002, and the project began operations in July 2003.  He is currently also developing a 300,000 ton per year wood pellet plant in Florida, and an innovative anaerobic digester/biogas project in Cayuga County, New York.  Mr. Foxen also managed a biomass feasibility study for a large western landowner to determine the optimal renewable energy uses for the landowners biomass resources.  Mr. Foxen previously co-founded and was CEO of ERM-New England, Inc., a leading environmental consulting and construction company, which in was sold in 2001 to 3i, Europe’s largest private equity firm.  ERM-New England was a member of the ERM Group, which was one of the two fastest growing private companies in the US from 1985-1990 according to Inc. Magazine.  Mr. Foxen previously worked for the US Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, DC, and Sargent & Lundy.  Mr. Foxen has a BS from Villanova University, a Masters in Environmental Engineering from Manhattan College, and completed the Owner/President Management Program at Harvard Business School.  He is a registered Professional Engineer.


Bruce J. Sieving, P.E., Senior Consultant

Mr. Sieving has nearly 40 years experience in the energy sector, with expertise in plant operations/maintenance and asset optimization.  During his career with General Electric, Southern California Edison, Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and Central Hudson Gas & Electric he has worked with numerous types of energy conversion technologies: large and small, low and high speed, conventional and renewable.   A sampling of his career highlights includes: President of a wood burning electric generating LLC that improved operating availability from 75% to 90%+ during his tenure; construction/startup  technical advisor and board member of a 40 million gallon per year fuel ethanol plant;  startup team supervisor and plant manager of two 600 MW oil fired electric generating units; six year leader of a five-company task force that reduced annual property taxes on a jointly-owned nuclear plant from $54 million to $26 million; auction manager for the successful divesture of two bundles of electric generating assets worth $990 million.  Mr. Sieving is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering.  He is a registered professional engineer.

Jim Huntley, Vice President - Construction

Mr. Huntley has nearly 40 years of experience constructing large industrial and energy projects.  Most recently, he was Senior Vice President at WW Gay, Florida’s largest industrial contractor.  Mr. Huntley has extensive experience with the construction of pulp and paper, power and industrial projects throughout the southeast.  He was previously Vice President at Frucon, where he was responsible for design build projects throughout the US.  Mr. Huntley holds an MS degree from Georgia Tech, and an MBA from Georgia State University.

Christian H. Bach, Vice President, Business Development

Mr. Bach has extensive experience in the biomass pellet industry and, in particular, sales and marketing.  Chris understands the dynamics of startups -- he founded Freedom Stove Company, an installer of wood pellet stoves and direct marketer of pellets in 1997.  Chris worked for Libra Natural Resources as General Manager, Business Development and was tasked with creating 1.5 million tons of production on the East Coast of the United States.  He co-founded North American Biomass in 2008 and developed relationships with European utilities and distributors, developed biomass pellet test burns for US utilities.
